Charlie has worked as a professional artist for over 10 years and is a qualified Counsellor with 15 years experience of working with young people. Through her youth and support work she has facilitated art workshops and various creative projects. Charlie has delivered art sessions to many vulnerable groups and now works in schools with children of all ages.
Charlie believes individuals, particularly in hard to reach groups, are encouraged by the concept of painting on canvas. For vulnerable and disadvantaged clients this is something which they can take away and hang easily, without the cost of a frame. They can explore a new medium with support from a professional artist.
This also meets the Every Child Matters outcome “Enjoy and Achieve” and is a vital part of the young person’s overall development.
“In my experience creating a piece of artwork can help raise confidence and self-esteem which can be a great benefit to the client or young person”
Clients and service users who attended rated the workshops as “Excellent” and left positive comments via the evaluation process.
They said, “Charlie was helpful” … “I got more experience of painting” … “I enjoyed everything“.
Attendees also said they would welcome further sessions as it was something, “Different and enjoyable“.
